The Plaza, Isabel Segunda
The Plaza or Public Square in Isabel Segunda was
built around 1860 as a town cistern. Around the Plaza are the Government
House (Alcaldía), the tourism office, the Catholic and Methodist
Churches, a public gymnasium, the office of the Department of Labor
and Human Resources and several schools.

The Bar Plaza on the corner was built in 1903 and was originally
a pharmacy. It later became the Post Office and is now a popular
bar.

The gazebo and the concrete work was a public works project by
the Municipal Government in 1924. It was built under a system called
prestación, in which workers were required to give one day
a week for public works projects. Those that didn't want to work
would have to hire someone else to take their place.
