La Peña

The beach that lies parallel to the road between Punta Caballo
(near the airport) and the Rompeolas (Mosquito Pier) is called
La Peña.

Running behind the beach is a dirt road, which has a small bridge
at the point where the road crosses a narrow quebrada. Legend
has it, that if you should see an elegantly dressed woman pushing
a baby carriage over the bridge at night, do not stop to converse
with her. If you ask to see the baby, she will push aside the
hood of the carriage and you will find yourself staring at the
devil and he will steal your soul.
Devils notwithstanding this is a beautiful beach, easy to get
to and you’ll be just about guaranteed to have the whole
beach to yourself, weekend or not, high season or low. |
