Playuela (Garcia Beach)

How to Get There
At the sign go right toward Playa Caracas. Take the second right turn, which will be about a half mile from the sign. (The first right goes to the old Navy airfield.) Make the next left turn and Playuela will be at the end of the road.

Playuela is somewhat exposed to the easterly trades, so when the breezes are blowing, Playuela can offer some decent bodysurfing.

Playuela has no formal facilities, but it is an excellent hammock and picnic beach. Not that all the other Vieques beaches aren't suitable for these activities, but Playuela is especially good, because of the convenient palm and sea grape trees, the availability of shade under these trees, and the comparative isolation of the beach.
